Lovely illustrations for the Chinese Qixi festival courtesy of Nowness. The play on asymmetry in this piece is very nice.

A video edit I put together for DIY City 0.01a - A great collaborative project by Specialmoves and Haque Design + Research. My favourite part is where the shapes can ‘mate’ with each other to create scary offspring forms.

Hopefully we’ll get to see the next stage of the project as a full city corner takeover. That would be awesome :)

'Le hieroglyphe metropolitain' by Edouard Marechal. The varying layers of visual complexity, plus the mix of mathematical and organic shapes make for a really nice piece.

Three K sprites from King of Fighters XIII. A great example of extreme easing to create impact. Frame 1 and 2 look almost unrelated!

Awesome front-on illustration of 00 Gundam. This was one of the first images that got me into the whole Gundam scene a few years back. Both line art and colouring are bang on.
Thanks to Minitokyo for the image:

Ryoji Ikeda creates some incredible works based on data visualisation. I saw a viewing of his Data work at the Barbican last year - it completely melted my brain but it was definitely unforgettable.

data.anatomy [civic] is a new audiovisual installation by the acclaimed Japanese artist Ryoji Ikeda, arising from a unique collaboration with Mitsuru Kariya, the development leader of the new Honda Civic car. Exhibited as a 3-screen video projection, data.anatomy [civic] immerses viewers in an intricate yet vast audiovisual composition derived from the entire data set of the car.

Genshiken is one of those rare anime series which is as honest as it is ridiculous. I’ve watched both series a couple of times and they still make me laugh. A perfect cross-section of hardcore otaku subculture.

Really like the colours in this image. Seems simple, but there’s greens to purples, blues, to absolutely everything.
